Statement

Through my work, I aim to stimulate viewers to look within their inner selves, explore subconscious emotions, and raise awareness of the variety of benefits art therapy could bring to individuals and society. Art therapy is a psychotherapy founded on the belief that self-expression through artistic creation has therapeutic value towards healing, self-realization, exploring emotions, reawakening memories, and seeking a deeper understanding of one’s core personality and unconscious mind. Using the principles of art therapy, rendering raw textures without utilizing tools, applying color psychology and material symbolism, I examine and unearth personal triggers and subconscious emotions. Through this series, I hope that the personal sentiment could be utilized as a segue to relate with viewers on a deeper emotional level and open a window for them to pursue a new insight into their own hidden emotions.
