Statement
Confined to an apartment during most of this past year, I've appreciated any time spent on a walk, a hike, or with new scenery. One day, my husband and I canoed through natural springs surrounded by foliage and wildlife. It was an experience of beauty we wouldn't have had if we hadn't been so in need of an escape.
Making this image was an escape from my apartment too -- and from my computer. I'd never done printmaking before, but I found a local studio where I could learn screen printing. This limited edition three color print conveys the layers of foliage and sense of movement and freedom I found in both the canoe trip and in learning a new medium and form.
