Soft Cinder block is a soft sculpture of a cinder block. It has been edited to be elongated, having three openings instead of one. The block is made of linen and stitched with a thick wool yarn in an irregular pattern to mimic the rough texture of cement. + Enlarge

Statement

Examining the configurations of modules within architecture and industrial landscapes, my work studies the repetition and process of these structures through a form of reconstruction with fiber materials. “Elsewhere” is a collection of pieces extending from site specific research and documentation of public spaces. Through the process of documenting and deconstructing architectural elements, softened versions of the original environments emerge with embellishments and surface design made to mimic and accentuate certain features.
