Statement

My work interrogates the concept of the artist as a historian, anthropologist, and archivist. As an indigenous person from Borneo, I am intrigued by my people's stories and feel compelled to document and perpetuate their existence. My work often deploys constructs from my heritage as a method of storytelling.

I combine the possibilities of digital editing, animation, and 16-millimeter film with indigenous pattern-making as a method of archiving and transforming personal identity into the visual language of patterns.
