Entering its 30th year in 2024, all proceeds of the show support diversity programming and scholarly initiatives for students.
Dr. Frankie Martin was the first Diversity Officer at MICA and founded the Annual Benefit Fashion Show, in partnership with the Black Student Union to showcase and highlight the beauty of diverse backgrounds and experiences. Since then, she has retired from the college and received MICA’s highest honor, the Medal of Honor.
Funds from the fashion show directly contribute to the Dr. Frankie Martin Diversity and Inclusion Grant, which provides assistance to students who participate in and create identity work and art.
The Office of Culture and Identity (OCI) is committed to the needs of future generations of artists, designers, scholars, and educators. We seek to centralize and promote work that addresses social issues and support the development of students with identity and representation at MICA. OCI believes in the power of learning about and celebrating different cultures. Our welcoming student space is made to connect, support, and inspire the MICA community and beyond.
