Statement
Every object, place, or person has a story to share that brought them to where they are now. These stories get lost through time and my work is focused on restoring these histories. Sometimes that means restoring an object to working condition or telling local history through the community. Society’s outlook on life has changed dramatically in the past one hundred years. Society and technology has changed rapidly compared to the past five hundred years. With time, basic skills have been forgotten. These skills were usually taught to children by family or in school. Due to the nature of quantity over quality, each succeeding generation loses valuable knowledge on the crafts: sewing, carpentry, cooking, and cleaning. The Industrial Revolution shaped the world we live in today and is usually a starting point in my research. This iconography is used throughout my work to show its effects on modern society. The stories told through my restorations are ways to repair lost history through the past generations.
