Re: Thanksgiving Break Building Hours and Services

Greetings!

Thanksgiving Break will begin the evening of Tuesday, November 23, 2021.  Over the course of the break, there will be changes to the campus regarding hours and services. Students are encouraged to check with specific departments, services, and studios to determine when facilities will be available (all campus phone numbers are available in the MICA Online Directory).  Please be aware of the changes below:

Building and Department Access:

• On Wednesday, November 24, the campus is open but no classes will be held. All campus buildings will close at 7:00 pm that evening.
• All campus buildings except residence halls will be closed Thursday-Friday, November 25-26, as these are campus holidays.
• On Saturday, November 27, most buildings and services will remain closed. However, graduate students will have access to graduate studios and collaborative work spaces in the Fred Lazarus IV Center, Fox Building and the Brown Center (ID required) from 11:00 am-12:00 am. Normal graduate student access will resume at 8:00 am on Sunday, November 28.
• Film Centre will close at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, November 24 and will reopen on Friday, November 26 at 8:00 am.  Film Centre Video Cage will be closed for the entire break, from Wednesday, November 24 through Sunday, November 28.  It will reopen at 8:00 am on Monday, November 29.
• Campus buildings will reopen Sunday, November 28 at 8:00 am.

Campus Services:

• The Decker Library will close Wednesday, November 24 at 1:00 pm and remain closed until Monday, November 29.
• The Fitness Center will close Tuesday, November 23 at 12:00 midnight and remain closed until Monday, November 29.
• Campus galleries will close Wednesday, November 24 at 1:00 pm and remain closed until Monday, November 29 at 10:00 am.
• ArtTech Center be open Wednesday, November 24 from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.  It will be closed from Thursday, November 25 through Sunday, November 28.  Normal hours will resume Monday, November 29.
• Student Health Center/Chase Brexton will be open 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Wednesday and closed Thursday and Friday. There will be no late night clinic for the week.  Regular hours will resume on Monday, November 29.
• The Graduate Research Lab will be closed throughout the break.
• Fabrication Studios will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 25 and 26.  They will have limited hours the rest of the break: Please check directly with posted schedules to determine the hours of operation for each studio.
• The MICA Store will be open from 9:00 am-5:00 pm on Wednesday, November 24, will close on Thursday and Friday, November 25-26, and reopen with regular hours on Saturday, November 27.

Dining Services:

• The Meyerhoff Dining Room will close after dinner on Tuesday, November 23 and will reopen for dinner on Sunday, November 28.
• Glace Grill will close at midnight after service on Monday, November 22 and will reopen at 5:00 pm on Sunday, November 28.
• Café Doris will have shortened hours (9:00 am-1:00 pm) on Wednesday, November 24 and then close through the break.
• Java Corner will be closed through the duration of the break from Wednesday, November 24 through Sunday, November 28.   
• Nancy will be closed from Thursday, November 25 through Sunday, November 28.

Transportation Services:

• All evening shuttle services will operate on Wednesday, November 24 until 8:00 pm.  Evening shuttle service will be offline until Saturday evening, November 27 when they will operate with hours of 5:00 pm – 1:00 am that night and Sunday night, November 28.  Evening Safety Shuttles will begin extended hours service on Monday, November 29.
• The MICA Circulators will operate with regular hours on Wednesday, November 24, but will then be offline until Monday, November 29.
• There will be no Canton Crossing shopping shuttle during the weekend break. That shuttle schedule will resume the next weekend.
