Sheila Gaskins

Sheila Gaskins a veteran of the screen, television, radio and the stage.

A Baltimore Native who loves her city and has been an Arts advocate for over four decades, her credits include: HBO's The Wire; NBC's Last Comic Standing; and The Salon with Vivica A. Fox. Playwright, stand-up comic, and humanitarian, her play Lasthouse Standing was well-received in November 2016, playing to packed houses as it made its debut at The Arena Playhouse. Her class, Contemporary Racism: Know your Biases is comprised of original material, popular concepts and social justice theories that have been a part of her Truth for years. She is an original member of Theatre Action Group and Co-Founder of Artpartheid - Fighting Segregation in the Baltimore Arts Scene. She is also a recent grant recipient from Maryland Humanities for Disappearing Acts - Re-Imaging Monuments, an opportunity to discuss the impact of the legacy of the Confederate Monuments and rethink the role of public art.
