Statement

In my practice of making, I operate through intuition. I am drawn to the beauty of natural materials. Being that we are interconnected to our environment, it is, to me, a lovely relationship that the earth is able to provide such unique and vibrant materials. These resources- stone; wood; metal; come equipped with a story to tell and a history supplied by nature. In collaboration with my materials and their story, the work I create serves as a metaphor for life. It is a balance of the natural and the manufactured. The compressive and expansive actions in my pieces are the tension of existence. The struggle is made manifest through the visual connections of the individual parts.
