I was born in Managua, Nicaragua but grew up in Miami, FL (specifically in a neighborhood where many Nicaraguans live called Sweetwater). I attended Florida State University in Tallahassee, where I received my Bachelor in Secondary Math Education. I was heavily involved in college—Orientation Leader, First-Year Experience Peer Leader, Leadership Living-Learning Community, and officer of many Student Organizations. Due to all of my involvements, I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in Student Affairs. So, I attended the University of Maryland College Park for my Master in Counseling & Personnel Services with an emphasis in College Student Development. I'm starting my 17th year at MICA and love the MICA community, and in particular the students we get to work with every day. I love all forms of art—visual, performing, etc. I am extremely grateful and privileged that I get to come to work and be surrounded by art. I have 2 amazing daughters and an awesome cat (Che). In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, trying new food, going on adventures, watching films, telling dad jokes, and living each day to the fullest.
