EMERGENCY SHELTER IN PLACE PROCEDURES

Sometimes self-directed or guided “Shelter in Place” may be used for emergencies where remaining in place is the safer presented option. Below are some shelter in place tips.
  • In case of a weather related incident, a basement is usually the best place to seek shelter. If there is no basement, seek an interior hall or room away from windows.
  • If under direct guidance, wait for a signal from emergency response personnel to leave the building.
  • Identified shelter locations are marked with signage. A comprehensive list can be found here.
