Events for students, by students.

The MICA Program Board (MPB) is an amazing team of student leaders tasked with bringing creative, engaging, and diverse events and activities to the MICA community! Our signature events include MICA's annual Halloween Party, MICA Talks, Coffee House, and Last Blast.

About  the MICA Program Board

Mission & Vision

The MICA Program Board seeks to address the social, developmental, and creative needs of the student MICA body through programming. Our events are designed with intention to promote community building, sense of belonging, well-being, and personal growth. We are committed to creating opportunities that support students in their exploration and understanding of our complex world, both as individuals and artists. We incorporate the values of the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Center for Student Engagement into all we do, and approach our work with passion, creativity, and a commitment to enhancing the MICA student experience. And we have fun doing it, of course!

Committee Descriptions

As a premiere arts institution, it is important to provide students with opportunities to hone their craft and take advantage of opportunities to learn about other aspects of the arts including both visual and performing arts. The Art Appreciation committee focuses on programs that enable students to take part in experiential activities, attending student exhibitions, hearing guest lecturers, or attending local art museums. This committee is also responsible for planning MICA Talks in February.

The Music & Performance committee is responsible for bringing performance based events to campus, specifically through the Coffeehouse series. These events provide a creative outlet for students outside of their coursework, and offer space to highlight and appreciate the MICA community’s music and performance based talents. Performances can include singer/songwriters, DJs, bands, poets, magicians, comedians, instrumental musicians, a cappella groups, and more.

The Exploring Baltimore committee seeks to encourage students’ exploration beyond MICA’s campus. These events allow students to become more familiar with their surroundings in addition to local opportunities and resources. Additionally, this committee is encouraged to partner with civically-orientated community organizations to plan programs that promote social responsibility, activism, and service. Some examples include trips to the inner harbor, service-based events, museum tours, workshops with local vendors or artists, or taking a trip to Six Flags.
