Late Arrival Policy for MFA and MA Students (Fall 2021)
MFA and MA students are expected to arrive on campus for all required Graduate Orientation activities beginning August 23, 2021, which is essential to being well prepared for the first week of classes and the start of the Fall 2021 semester. However, as the pandemic continues to constrain travel, we recognize some students may be prevented from arriving on time.
The final date for MFA and MA student late arrival to campus, without disruption to a student's academic standing, is Friday, September 3rd. Students arriving after Fall Orientation begins but before Friday, September 3rd must notify the Office of Graduate Studies by completing this form in which you will be asked to provide a short rationale and anticipated date of arrival on campus. The Office of Graduate Studies will review requests and notify students as to whether they have been approved for late arrival. Students approved for late arrival will be expected to complete required orientation tasks and missed academic coursework.
Students who must arrive after September 3rd but before September 11th may email a written request with rationale to their program director and Vice Provost for Graduate Studies. Submitting such a request is no guarantee of approval, wherein leave of absence options may be advisable in most cases. F1 visa students should also contact the Office of International Education about the expected arrival date.
