Victoria Jang (AICAD Fellow)

Victoria Jang’s fundamental understanding of contemporary social politics and the Asian American history on immigration and intersections of other racial and ethnic groups allows her to recreate and imitate cultural assimilation and hybridity in her art practice.

Jang earned her BFA in 3D4M in 2010 at the University of Washington in Seattle under the mentorship of Akio Takamori and Jamie Walker. She then attained her MFA in Ceramics at California College of the Arts in San Francisco in 2014. Jang received the Association of Independent Colleges in Art and Design Teaching Fellowship, Headlands Center for the Arts Graduate Fellowship, the Retired Professor’s Award by the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, Murphy Cadogan Contemporary Arts Award, and was a featured artist by The Embassy of South Korea in Washington D.C., San Francisco’s Asian Pacific American Multicultural Foundation and the Korean Cultural Center in Los Angeles. Jang was the 2016-2017 artist-in-residence in Ceramics at University of California, Berkeley and has exhibited work in international art fairs with the representation of Patricia Sweetow Gallery in San Francisco, California.
