Fiber (Major)

Marla Parker

Marla received a BFA in Fiber with a minor in Experimental Fashion from the Maryland Institute College of Art (2010) and an MFA in Costume Design from Carnegie Mellon University (2017). She has taught as an adjunct faculty member in the Fiber Department since 2018.

As a fourth-generation garment and sewing professional, Marla serves local communities and industries with design, fabrication, wardrobe, and tailoring.  Her teaching builds student skills and conceptual rigor by examining connections between practice, history, and meaning-making.
