Kiel Mutschelknaus

Kiel D. Mutschelknaus is a designer with a focus on generative and motion work.

Originally from South Dakota, Kiel began his trek East to attend Cranbrook Academy of Art for his MFA in 2D Design before joining the GD Department at MICA. In addition to teaching, he maintains an active freelance studio with clients including the Nike, Spotify, Apple, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg New Economy, The Verge, MIT Technology Review, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and Ray-Ban. Kiel has gained recent acclaim for development of Space Type Generator, an online motion and type generator featured in It’s Nice That, The Verge, étapes, Facebook Curated, Novum Magazine, TYPEONE, Page, and Eye Magazine. An open source application, STG has inspired projects across the globe including music videos, editorial illustrations, murals, magazine covers, and has found new innovative applications in commercial design.
