BALTIMORE — The Maryland Institute College of Art’s (MICA) Decker Library will welcome Cristina Fontánez Rodríguez as its 2018-19 National Digital Stewardship Residency (NDSR) Art resident. Fontánez Rodríguez will begin her year-long digital stewardship residency with Decker Library’s Digital Initiatives Unit on July 16.

As part of her residency, Fontánez Rodríguez will develop a new model for the collection, long-term preservation and access of complex digital objects as part of art and design theses work that can be implemented at MICA and replicated elsewhere.

“The tremendous strength and diversity of work completed by graduate students is a significant contribution to the field of art and design,” said Library Director Heather Slania. “Decker Library is committed to developing a framework to support true engagement with this material. The vital work of art and design programs deserve to be front and center.”
