January 21 Employee Memo

Information around return to in-person and hybrid instruction.

January 21, 2022

Dear faculty and staff,

I hope the first week of virtualized classes have been productive.

I am writing to share some very good news that we received after Recap Issue 21 was published yesterday. As you know, all students are required to participate in COVID testing upon arrival to campus with a second test 5-7 days later. Employees are also required to test. Currently, I am pleased to report that nearly 1,700 tests have been taken through our on-campus testing and the positivity rate through January 19th stands at 5.1% — well below that of the city and the county — with the number of positive cases close to evenly split between students and employees. Students in residence halls who have tested positive have been safely relocated to MICA’s expanded quarantine and isolation facilities. As a note, return to campus testing is ongoing and we will continue to provide updates to the community.

We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to campus for the first week of in-person classes starting Monday. Thank you to the community for your continued adherence to our pandemic management protocols.

Have a restful weekend.

Sincerely,

Tiffany
