We are equally delighted to share the exciting news that two of our very own MICA alumni of our MPS in Data Analytics and Visualization program have been short-listed for the 2023 Information is Beautiful Awards, further showcasing the extraordinary talent nurtured within our institution. Melissa Alexander ‘22, a graduate in Data Analytics & Visualization (MPS), and Carni Klirs ‘18, who holds a degree in Information Visualization (MPS), have earned their well-deserved places among the finalists.
The Information is Beautiful Awards Ceremony and Day of Inspiration will span two action-packed days, culminating in the highly anticipated Information Is Beautiful Awards Ceremony 2023. This event will offer attendees unparalleled opportunities for learning, networking, and celebration, all deeply aligned with MICA's core values of excellence, community, and creativity. We are proud to nurture designers every day who go on to advance the field of data visualization, and honored to host this global celebration of talent.
Historically, the Information is Beautiful Awards Ceremony has graced prestigious venues in London, New York City, and Washington, D.C. However, this year, the heart of the celebration will beat right here on the vibrant campus of MICA in Baltimore.

The Information is Beautiful Awards have celebrated excellence & beauty in data visualization, infographics, interactives & information art since 2012. Led by the Information is Beautiful team for eight seasons (2012-2019), the Awards returned under the leadership of the Data Visualization Society in 2022.
Every year, hundreds of visualizations are submitted to the Awards. Our judges review each entrant for how well it suits the medium (infographic, interactive, data visualization and more) & how well it illuminates the topic: Arts, Entertainment & Culture, Current Affairs & Politics, Places, Spaces & Environment, People, Language & Identity, Science, Technology & Health, Humanitarian, Leisure, Games & Sport, and Unusual.
