Undergraduate Registration

Registration Process

All  students register for courses online through their online student service center. Students can use these step-by-step instructions when registering and seek assistance from their department chair or academic advisor.

Prior to the beginning of the registration period, the Office of Enrollment Services has copies of the Schedule of Classes available for pick-up at the front desk and updates the Schedule of Classes link (see the menu on the left) with the pdf copy. However, students are encouraged to use the online searchable Schedule of Classes for the most up-to-date version of the upcoming semester schedule. This is where students can find information such as updated instructor names, room numbers, and if courses are still available or have added more seats.

MICA is committed to an equitable, transparent pathway to degree completion for all students, which entails consistent application of requirements and prerequisites as well as a registration process that is clear to all.

Prerequisites are curricular requirements for which a waiver may be granted with permission of the department Chair and Associate Dean. Similarly, over-enrollment into closed courses, including registration into closed courses ahead of the waitlist, are permitted only in exceptional circumstances subject to department Chair and Associate Dean approval. Individual faculty may not waive or override prerequisites or course caps. Students who contact the chair of the department in which a course is offered to request an exception to policy must provide reasoning beyond a preference to take a course at a preferred time. Associate Deans confer final approval on requests for curricular and registration exceptions.
