Operational Mode 4 - Protocols for On-Campus Interviews

MICA will be in a revised and expanded form of Operational Mode 4 for the Fall 2021 semester. MICA's Campus is open to MICA students, staff and faculty and the educational experience prioritizes the return to the physical campus and in-person instruction.  Visitors are allowed on campus for essential educational and College activities, including on-campus interviews for faculty or staff searches with the following protocols in alignment with the On-Campus Visitation Policy in place. As much as possible, on-campus interviews should be kept to 1 day or less.

On campus visits must be scheduled well in advance to allow for the hosting department to do the following:

  • Approve the essential visitor by the appropriate Director (or other designated approver)
  • Send the following COVID-19 language in initial communications:

    • It is MICA’s expectation that all essential visitors are fully vaccinated - 2 weeks after the last dose of a US-based or WHO-approved vaccine OR have or will have tested negative 3-7 days prior to coming on campus.
  • Plan all logistical arrangements for campus access including the process to obtain a visitor ID with Campus Safety

And for the interview candidate to:

  • Review COVID-19 language and the Operational Mode 4 Social Agreement.

Search Committee members and each candidate must comply with Operational Mode 4 public health and safety measures such as indoor masking and other protocols.

Because interviews will be 1 day or less, it is not necessary for the search committee to request proof of vaccination or negative test or to keep a copy if it is presented by the candidate.

Obtaining a visitor ID from Campus Safety for the interview candidate: The search committee chair or a designee should obtain a copy/scan of a candidate’s ID in advance of the campus interview and send to Marlon Byrd, AVP for Campus Safety at mbyrd01@mica.edu.  If a candidate is not comfortable sending their ID to the search committee, they can email a copy directly to Marlon Byrd.  Campus Safety will create a visitor ID for the candidate that can be picked up prior to the interview.  Once the candidate arrives on campus, the visitor ID can be used to move freely around campus with a member of the search committee as a MICA escort.  It will not be necessary to sign in at each building.
