Statement

Mouthbreather is a terrified little creature that lost her nose at some point in her difficult past. Stunted at childhood but desperate for love and relief, she reaches through the future and makes an earnest attempt to survive the things that haunt her. With the help of a book of poems and a dollhouse full of childlike, raw illustrations, Isha Joshi aims to comfort the viewer and give them a sense of connection. This thesis explores a reconciliation of the younger and older selves through radical self-acceptance and the kindness of community, in the face of terror, heartbreak and loss.
